Check out the first Halton Rocks podcast featuring us, Kesseler and The Native Narcotics. Gives you a little idea of what to expect on 21st April at The Studio, Widnes.

What a busy week!

Wellll a lot has happened over the past week or so in Laura&Claire world so we thought we should give you an update of the many goings on including our triple gig weekend…

Tiger Lounge 08/02/12

This was our second appearance at Acoustic Wednesdays and we had such a good time! Despite bringing a capo we have been reluctant to admit no longer works (RIP Laura’s 12 year old capo) we were really happy with how it sounded. There were some other really great musicians there too, in particular Tom Jarvis and Tom Thorley-Fox (You can find them on Facebook). It was good to see some faces from the last time we played there. Must be doing something right!

Barcelona Bar 10/02/12

It’s been a while since we’ve had to rush this much. Ah the joys of day jobs not fitting in with gigs! We had never been in Barcelona Bar before but we were so impressed. Anything with fairy lights pretty much gets our vote. We were first on and considering it was only 8PM there was quite a decent crowd! Ample Music have done a really good job with organising these new gigs and we are very pleased to say they have given us regular monthly gigs at the venue. So there’s no excuse to not atleast make it to one!

Head of Steam 11/02/12

We were put on to Head of Steam a while ago but for some reason it passed us by. Anywho we made up for it last weekend with a great gig there. Although a few drunks on entry could have potentially been buzz killers, we had such a fun night. With a surprise visit from a few friends, which is always nice, and so many people approaching us for CDs and badges we were pretty darn happy! Again, there was a really great mix of musicians there, our faves being Gary Maginnis who had a really cool folky sound.

The Camden Head 12/02/12

Okay, we know how important gigs are but we can’t help but feel the best bit of our trip was watching half a season of Sabrina on the coach and stuffing our faces with chocolate to lighten the luggage load(Gets you through the day when you’re on a coach at 7am). It was good to play in a new city and we’re big fans of Camden so this was really fun for us. It was quite different to what we had expected but it was good for us to play somewhere new and scare us out of our comfort zone. In other news it was good to finally put a face to a name when the team at Surrounded By came along to watch us, in particular Sues who got our badges sent over to us in time for our busy weekend. They wrote a lovely mini review about the night on their site www.surroundedby.co.uk to which was a nice confidence boost. Of course we spent the next day buying anything with sequins on and fairy lights at the famous market and eating Chinese food. Apart from our broken backs, pulled muscles and a worry for hunchbacks in the future… it was the best weekend we’ve had in ages!

Unplugged @ The Sink 15/02/12

This is a relatively new night on the Liverpool acoustic scene and we were really looking forward to playing alongside friends Rob Rivieres and Terry Gray. The bar was really cool and relaxed with its couches and lights, again with the fairy lights. There were a few technical glitches throughout our set but we still had a good time and organisors Thom Morecroft and Sian Williams have asked us back. We shifted a good few CDs too which is never a bad sign.

Soo that’s pretty much everything covered. One pretty jam packed week but that’s how we love it! Give us more gigs people, more! We should make a film of our little travels…

Gig tomorrow night!

Acoustic Wednesdays gig at Tiger Lounge. Prep for a very busy weekend. Hopefully see you there :) x

Salvation Army Charity Gig, The Studio, Widnes - 20/01/12

We know it was two days ago but we’re trying to actually keep a regular pattern going here so here it is…

As we’re sure you’re all aware, The Studio is pretty much our second home, so it was nice to see it with a more intimate set-up with sofas, candles and huge curtain drawn to make it so the crowd were a little closer to us. We did what has become our usual set of 7 songs, starting with Unsung Hero… You know, just to confuse you guys a little.

We had a really fun night and enjoyed both sets from fellow musicians; Ste Steadman and James Michael. Even the cringey ‘Smile!’ pictures for the local paper turned out to be fun :)

A write up for the night should hopefully be in this weeks Widnes Weekly News with a few cheeky photos of us posing with our guitars. Oh how we love it!

The night raised a great amount for the Salvation Army and made us a few new fans… Pretty successful if you ask us!

Next stop: Bumper, Liverpool.
